This is a sobering moment. Although many of us hoped for a different outcome, Donald Trump will take over the presidency in January. We at the Berger-Marks Foundation are aware of the many ways that the 2016 elections could result in setbacks for justice for women, workers, people of color, and other marginalized communities.
Yet we still have time to work together for a change. Every day women are fighting on the front lines of social justice to make their workplaces and communities better, safer, and fairer places. Now, more than ever, it is crucial that we come together to support and celebrate their leadership.
Next month we will announce the winners of this year’s Edna Award for Social Justice and Kate Mullany Courageous Young Worker Awards, honoring young women who are fighting for social justice and workers’ rights. Watch this space for the announcement about this year’s winners and about the February 9th award reception. Take care and keep fighting!
